Location & Access

Green Island Resort sits inside the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, a 45-minute boat ride from Cairns. Resort guests receive complimentary return boat transfers and can use the dedicated check-in queue at the ferry terminal. Day visitors leave by 4pm, leaving the island exclusively for overnight guests.

Accommodation

The resort offers 46 suites with private balconies overlooking either the rainforest or pools. Each suite has air conditioning, a bathroom with separate bath and shower, and a daily housekeeping service. Guests have access to two swimming pools, including a salt-water pool with a pool bar.

Dining

Emeralds Restaurant serves award-winning tropical cuisine on an outdoor terrace or in an air-conditioned dining room. The Canopy Grill provides casual outdoor dining during the day. A coffee house on site and a bar with wine and champagne are also available.

Activities & Eco-Sustainability

All guests receive complimentary snorkel gear, a glass bottom boat tour, and a sunset drink each evening. The resort offers guided snorkel trips with a marine biologist and a Dive Shop for scuba diving and canoeing. Green Island Resort holds Advanced Ecotourism Certification and operates a state-of-the-art tertiary sewage treatment plant.

Guest Experiences

After day trippers leave at 4pm, overnight guests have the entire island and its beaches to themselves. Daily fish feeding at the jetty attracts turtles, reef sharks, and stingrays. Special diet menus for kids and adults are available at the restaurant on request.
